On Thursday afternoon, the White Sox announced that their No. 4 prospect Nick Madrigal has been promoted to High-A Winston-Salem. The promotion comes after the 2018 first rounder played just 12 with the Kannapolis Intimidators.
Nick Madrigal began his journey in the organization with the AZL White Sox before joining the Kannapolis Intimidators. In Arizona, he played just 5 games in a brief tune up after his College World Series appearance. During his time in Kannapolis, Madrigal hit .341 with 3 doubles, 6 RBI, and 15 hits in just 44 at-bats. He also owned a .347 OBP, .409 SLG, and .756 OBP. Perhaps the most impressive stat of all is that Madrigal has still yet to strike out during his time during his time in the organization.
Another prospect who is on the move is Steele Walker. The 2nd rounder was promoted to Kannapolis to take Madrigal’s spot. In 13 games between the AZL White Sox and Great Falls Voyagers, Walker is hitting .267 with 2 home runs, 4 RBI, a .333 OBP, .422 SLG, and .756 OBP.
There is no word yet on whether Madrigal or Walker will be playing on Thursday for their new teams. For more updates, be sure to follow us on Twitter @SoxOn35th. Also, give the Winston-Salem Dash (@WSDashBaseball) and Kannapolis Intimidators (@Intimidators) a follow for additional updates.
