White Sox option Zach Remillard among series of roster moves

by Michael Suareo

The Chicago White Sox have officially made their first roster moves in the post-Kenny Wiliams and Rick Hahn era, as they announced Wednesday morning that they are optioning Zach Remillard to Triple-A Charlotte, designating Brent Honeywell for assignment, and recalling pitchers Edgar Navarro and Sammy Peralta.

Zach Remillard gained a lot of fans early in his stint with the team, as he reached base four times in his MLB debut and was seen as the hero of the game. He had a decent stretch seeing regular play time between June and July but has cooled off in August as his overly high BABIP has caught up to him. With his demotion to Charlotte, it can be expected that Lenyn Sosa will be sticking around with the club for now.

Brent Honeywell was claimed from the Padres earlier this month but has really struggled in his four appearances with the White Sox. The former top prospect was seen as a low-risk/high-reward type of acquisition, however, it unfortunately hasn’t panned out into any sort of return on investment. in his 5.2 innings with the team, Honeywell held an ERA above 11 and was unsuccessful in producing any sort of credible strikeout numbers.

Edgar Navarro and Sammy Peralta both have already seen time on the MLB roster earlier this season between late July and early August. While neither one has necessarily been dominant at the Triple-A level, they will provide some much-needed depth to this bullpen.

It is unclear, however, who actually made these roster moves. Hopefully, this is a question we’ll get an answer to in the coming days.

Now that Williams and Hahn are gone, Reinsdorf should dump Grifol as manager, then sell the team, and never mind moving out of Chicago. I don’t know why he wants Tony LaRussa so bad, but I feel Dayton Moore as consultant, and Chris Getz as GM is not the answer. The Kansas City Royals have gone downhill since winning their first World Series in 30 years in ’15, and to me, they’re not the solution to the front office’s problem, and would just make things worse. It’s a wonder the Sox haven’t gone bankrupt under Reinsdorf.

These moves are nothing more than going to the Goodwill store and getting 2 pair of underwear for a $1 to replace the ones you just crapped in.

Unsportsmanlike conduct on your part

Frankly the whole team has problems with BABIP (recall the 8th inning bases loaded 0 out 3 straight strikeouts up 3-1 at Riggets Field)
