We have some minor league news for you. According to The Athletic’s James Fegan, the White Sox will reportedly continue to pay all of their minor leaguers through the end of June, an arrangement that will send $400 per week plus benefits to those in the system. The previous arrangement was set to expire at the end of the month. This new agreement involves everyone in the system, including 25 players who were released last week.
A quick glance through the list and most of these are names who you wouldn’t immediately recognize. As Fegan pointed out in his tweet, one notable player is outfielder Josue Guerrero. The cousin of Blue Jays’ rising star Vlad Guerrero Jr., Josue slashed just .224/.282/.365 with five home runs and 28 RBI during a two-year stint in the Arizona Rookie League.

It’s never good to share news like this. Still, some credit needs to be given to the White Sox for paying these guys during such a rough time. The organization is one of a few already who have come out and said they will continue their previous arrangement, albeit the amount isn’t much. In other organizations like the Oakland Athletics, things have taken a far worse turn.
Let’s hope clubs who have yet to announce their intentions follow the White Sox’ route.
