The ballpark on 35th and Shields has a new name.
The White Sox announced on Tuesday evening that their stadium has been renamed to “Rate Field” ahead of the 2025 season. The change comes as Guaranteed Rate underwent a company-wide rebrand in July 2024 to be known simply as “Rate” moving forward.
At the time of their rebranding initiative, Rate released a statement concerning their name change. Here is a brief excerpt:
Guaranteed Rate, a leading financial services provider in the mortgage industry, is excited to announce a major rebranding initiative. Effective immediately, the company will be known simply as “Rate.” This change reflects the company’s commitment to innovation, simplicity, and a seamless customer experience in the fintech and mortgage industries.
“Rate’s rebrand is more than just a name change; it represents a new era of growth and innovation. The company remains dedicated to delivering high-quality service and leveraging cutting-edge technology to improve the mortgage experience for all,” said Victor Ciardelli, CEO of Rate. “This transition to ‘Rate’ marks a significant milestone in our company’s evolution. For over two decades, we’ve been at the forefront of technological advancements in the mortgage industry. Our new name is a natural progression that aligns with our mission to simplify and modernize the mortgage process for our customers and partners.”
The name change now marks the fourth for the ballpark since its opening over 30 years ago. Beginning with its inaugural season in 1991, the newly constructed stadium was known as Comiskey Park until a naming rights deal in 2003 led to U.S. Cellular Field. Following the 2016 season, Guaranteed Rate landed a new agreement with the franchise that now lasts through the team’s remaining lease at the stadium.
