The Chicago White Sox and their fifth-round draft pick Bailey Horn have reportedly agreed to a deal. The Auburn lefty will be receiving $150,000, per MLB Pipeline’s Jim Callis
Horn, 22, went 3-1 with a 2.08 ERA and 27 strikeouts over four starts with Auburn this spring. The Waco, Texas native also appeared in 18 games with the Tigers in 2019, striking out 31 batters over 37.2 IP. The red-shirt junior previously underwent Tommy John surgery while at McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas, but has bounced back nicely. Though he has some starting experience, Horn figures to be a bullpen piece for the team down the line.
This signing comes on the heels of second-rounder Jared Kelley’s deal, reported by MLB Pipeline’s Jonathan Mayo just hours ago. The organization has now locked up each of their five draft picks, using all but $7,300 of their $7,764,800 bonus pool.
