White Sox to allow full capacity at Guaranteed Rate Field beginning on June 25th

by Joe Binder

After receiving approval last week from the city of Chicago and state of Illinois, the White Sox will be allowing full capacity at all future home games, beginning on June 25th with their 7:10 p.m. contest against the Seattle Mariners.

Single game tickets to the remainder of White Sox home games at Guaranteed Rate Field will go on sale to the general public at noon on Tuesday, June 15th on whitesox.com only.

“This is an incredible milestone for the Chicagoland community and White Sox fans,” said Brooks Boyer, White Sox chief revenue and marketing officer. “Since the pandemic began, the entire organization has been looking forward to the day we could welcome all fans back home to see White Sox baseball in person. It’s a night we’re going to celebrate with all of the pomp and circumstance of our annual home opener. Our Reopening Night is lining up to be a memorable evening, and fans will not want to miss the opportunity to be a part of it – back in their own seats and cheering on our first place team.”

What’s being dubbed as “White Sox Reopening Night” on June 25 will feature the first signature postgame fireworks display since the 2019 season. The first 10,000 fans can also expect to receive a White Sox cap, presented by Coca-Cola. Further info about upcoming promotions and giveaways, as well as details about the White Sox Reopening Night, will be announced early next week, per the team.

To accommodate full capacity crowds, the organization announced it’s updating its ballpark protocols. As part of the plan, White Sox season ticket holders will be returning to their original season ticket seat locations. Seating pods and physically distanced pods will also no longer be instituted.

Mobile ticketing, cashless transactions, level restrictions, enhanced cleaning measures as well as the no-bag policy (except for medical bags, small clutch purses that are 9” x 5” or smaller and diaper bags) will remain in place. As with most other places, fans are still encouraged to physically distance, when possible, and encouraged to wear a face covering or mask if still not fully vaccinated.

With the full reopening, select areas of the ballpark will return to normal on June 25th, including the Xfinity Kids Zone, Revolution Brewing #SoxSocial Tap Room, and ChiSox Bar & Grill, located near Gate 5. There is still no official word on whether tailgating will be permitted.

The team also says White Sox season tickets, season and single-game premium tickets, and group tickets are all available for the remainder of the season. Fans can visit whitesox.com/tickets for more information and email tickets@chisox.com with any questions.
