The White Sox have made their second trade of the week.
According to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, shortstop Paul DeJong has been traded to the Kansas City Royals. In return, the White Sox will be receiving minor-league pitcher Jarold Rosado.
DeJong, 30, is hitting .228/.275/.430 with 18 home runs, 41 RBI, 706 OPS, and a 95 wRC+ in 102 games this year. The shortstop originally signed with the White Sox to a one-year deal worth $1.75 million, with incentives worth up to $250,000 in place.
Joining the South Side in return is right-handed pitching prospect Jarold Rosado. Originally signed by Kansas City as an international free agent in 2022, the 22-year-old has thrown out of the bullpen for the Royals’ Low-A affiliate this season. In 27 games, Rosado owns a 1.85 ERA with 45 strikeouts in 39 innings, only allowing 11 walks.
The White Sox said in an official release that Rosado will report to Low-A Kannapolis.
