White Sox Update: Free Agent Signings, Spring Training Invites and Broadcast Schedule

Here’s the latest news from January 21st:

White Sox announce free agent signings and Spring Training invites

The Chicago White Sox announced on Tuesday that they have agreed to terms on minor-league contracts with the following free agents:

  • Drew Anderson (RHP)
  • Ryan Burr (RHP)
  • Brady Lail (RHP)
  • Alex McRae (RHP)
  • Bryan Mitchell (RHP)
  • Ross Detwiler (LHP)
  • Caleb Frare (LHP)
  • Jacob Lindgren (LHP)
  • Adalberto Mejia (LHP)
  • Matt Tomshaw (LHP)
  • Cheslor Cuthbert (INF)
  • Andrew Romine (INF)
  • Matt Skole (INF)
  • Jaycob Brugman (OF)
  • Nicky Delmonico (OF)

All of the 15 above players received non-roster invites to spring training camp along with 12 others. Those other dozen players who received invites to major-league camp include:

  • Tayron Guerrero (RHP)
  • Codi Heuer (RHP)
  • Tyler Johnson (RHP)
  • Jonathan Stiever (RHP)
  • Kodi Medeiros (LHP)
  • Hunter Schryver (LHP)
  • Carlos Perez (C)
  • Nick Madrigal (INF)
  • Gavin Sheets (INF)
  • Andrew Vaughn (INF)
  • Luis Gonzalez (OF)
  • Daniel Palka (OF)

Pitchers and catchers report to Glendale, Arizona on Wednesday, February 12th while position players report on Monday, February 17th.


White Sox announce 2020 Spring Training broadcast schedule

The Chicago White Sox, NBC Sports Chicago, and WGN Radio AM 720 have announced the 2020 spring training television, radio, and webcast schedule.

The first webcast of the spring will be on Saturday, February 22nd at 2:05 PM CST for the White Sox’ first Cactus League game vs. the Los Angeles Angels. Broadcasters Russ Langer and Rich King will have the call.

NBC Sports Chicago will televise the following games with Jason Benetti and Steve Stone on the call:

  • Monday, February 24th: White Sox vs. Dodgers, 2:05 PM CST
  • Friday, March 13th: Cubs vs. White Sox, 3:05 PM CDT
  • March 21-March 24: Final four games of the spring schedule, which includes two exhibition matchups at Chase Field vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The games are also available via live streams on the MyTeams app and NBCSportsChicago.com.

As for WGN Radio, the station will air the first 11 games this spring with Ed Farmer and Darrin Jackson back in the booth. They will also call the White Sox vs. Cubs games on Friday, March 6th and Friday, March 13th.
