As the South Siders enjoyed their first day off since Spring Training began on February 25, a few noteworthy developments dropped today. Quotes from Tim Anderson on team unity, Lucas Giolito on the pitch clock, and Hanser Alberto on his go-getter mentality all surfaced. In addition, Salvador Perez gushed about his former assistant coach and new Sox manager Pedro Grifol.
Elsewhere, practice and exhibitions began for the World Baseball Classic today, which officially kicks off late tomorrow night in Taiwan. Lance Lynn, Kendall Graveman, and Tim Anderson will play for the U.S.A., Yoan Moncada and Luis Robert for Cuba, Eloy Jimenez for the Dominican Republic, and Jose Ruiz for Venezuela. Team Cuba plays in the opening game, while the rest of the Sox cohort isn’t in action until Saturday.
