Welington Castillo traded to the Texas Rangers
The White Sox traded catcher Welington Castillo and an international signing bonus pool slot to the Texas Rangers in exchange for infielder/outfielder Jonah McReynolds. The 23-year-old McReynolds has spent the past three seasons in Short-A and owns a career slash of .217/.285/.322 with 9 home runs and 59 RBI.
As for Castillo, the Rangers have already announced that they are planning to decline his 2020 club option. He will be bought out for $500,000 instead of being paid the $8.0 million salary for next season.
Multiple players reinstated from the 60-day injured list
The organization announced that right-handed pitchers Ryan Burr and Michael Kopech, left-handed pitcher Carlos Rodon, and outfielder Jon Jay have all been reinstated from the 60-day injured list.
Jose Abreu, others officially become free agents
The following players declared for free agency:

- Ross Detwiler (LHP)
- Jon Jay (OF)
- Ivan Nova (RHP)
- Hector Santiago (LHP)
Josh Osich claimed by the Red Sox
Left-handed pitcher Josh Osich has been claimed off waivers by the Boston Red Sox. He was outrighted to Triple-A Charlotte earlier in the day. Osich appeared in 57 games last season and owned a 4-0 record, 4.66 ERA, 61 strikeouts, 15 walks, and 1.138 WHIP.
